Insightful Imagery
United States
Приєднався 23 лют 2013
Insightful Imagery is a concept i came up with when trying to determine what the purpose of my photography was. I mean in a world full of images what was so different about mine. The goal for me is not to change the world with my images but instead try to show you what is already here. Thus "Revealing Life" came to be the tag line for my brand, "Insightful Imagery.
My photography is the means by which I communicate how amazed and curious I am at the world around me. This need has carried over from my adolescence. As a boy I explored the city. I touched things, I smelled things, I listened and watched. I walked the train tracks flattening my share of pennies. I have come to realize for me the “parts” of something can be more interesting than the “whole”. My photographic style reflects this. Up close and revealing the textures and shapes that make up whatever is in front of my lens. I owned a tattoo shop and have gotten back into my photography and so this channel will reflect this.

One way we do this is by cutting little boxes and other packaging we print out by hand. I use the cricut maker to do this. When you buy printables they are usually all on a single sheet. I show you how to get them off and make each printable its own individual...

Ever have the need to create a weathered wood look on a surface that is NOT wood? Spray paint can help create this effect. When painting miniature props like resin printed furniture. I see a lot of wood or faded wood weathering techniques but the one thing they all have in common is they start with "real wood". I show you how to do it with a resin printed prop. But its a foundation for the part where I begin turning the lights on and modifying them. I change the camera angle at @07:36 and begin turning lights on. Great tutorial, Mike! You crack me up with some of your narrating! 😂
That makes two of us! Thanks for your support buddy
Been a minute since I've seen your videos. Good to see you are still building. Can't wait to see some photos with this explosion effect.
Hah thanks I get a video up every so often thanks for watching I appreciate the time
I sincerely love this. In the beginning of the Popeye film, he is rowing in a storm to port Newhaven.
I appreciate that thanks so much for watching
Beautiful work!!
Glad you like I think in another version I will make deeper one built up a bit higher
Thank you for this inspiration 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻greetings from Berlin 😃
You are so welcome!
The cricut has a scoring tool and scoring feature that will put all the little folds on the box for you.
Yes you are right
I just have to go in and manually add score lines and honestly it probably is faster using the cricut to do it I just have not done it yet but thanks for watching and sharing with me
It turned out awesome.
I enjoy yr site and learning to create extras which i do dig. BUT what my downer is - printing out 3D items and going on from there. Yep i know you need to now create this item with paints/weathering/aging/stickers? Etc... but to me i loose it now as i find printing it out on 3D is like buying item from hobby shop & adding all the paints etc... i mentioned above. I dig watching creations hand made from foams..paper board...cards etc... to me thats hands on and creating, showing others and me watching plus learning as i am rather new to these fantastic creations that i have seen on line. Cheerz & best wishes. Den 😇🥰❤
Thanks for the input glad to have ya watching and enjoying the hobby I still make pleanty of stuff out of foam so stick around for that for sure. I have new dio to build and will start on it shortly!
Watching you do those letters was stressful. 😅
Right hahaha water slides are high stresss lol
@@InsightfulImagery Yes they are I hate them.
why didn't they dismantle it for scrap metal? That would be some easy money.
they clearly went through the effort to remove the connecting causeway, so why not the span?
Who knows why the people in charge never seem to to do the most obvious lol. I’m sure it has to do with money as most things do. Thanks for watching
Taking the thing apart and transporting the pieces to a scrapper would cost far more than the steel is worth
@@kornellredtrue and it’s not really hurting anything at the moment it’s not polluting or harming any wildlife so I don’t see any need to move it at the moment one day though they will need to figure it out because it’s always going to cost more to move than leave it
Thanks for the regalo 🎉
Right on thanks for watching
Great work !!!
Thanks man that was a fun trip for sure
Nice video, boring voice though
Well it’s the one I was born with. Perhaps mute it next time
Nice video. I enjoyed the details you discuss and show.
I don’t agree with you sir. You are very funny!😂😂😂
pretty solid idea i use aquarium sand instead of cinnamon
Mixed with mod podge? Interesting thanks for that
@@InsightfulImagery yes mixed with modge podge to your preference
Won’t smell as nice but great idea
@@InsightfulImagery very true lol
Now that is AWESOME!!!! Thanks for sharing
You bet!
Bud, I know this post is super late and you might not check these. But in case you do, would not be possible to put in the grout, and clean it off from the brick well enough that I could do my texture rolling afterwards? Great video, and I think I am going to try this technique in making some modular gaming walls.
I wouldn’t try that because as you roll the foil or rock or whatever you use to texture will dislodge the grout the way around this would be to make your grout with paint instead of a rigid grout product paint in the color grout you want wipe excess off then texture sorry for the late response
@@InsightfulImagery oooooohhh! Thanks for the super late reply. I'll have to mess around with this a bit.
@@Krohnutzsorry for the late response but all my comments don’t show in a single tab so when I think I have responded and am up to date on comments I may not be. Thanks for watching
USE THE POO
Not sure I understand what that is
Bravo!!!!
This is brilliant and useful- thank you so much for posting. The mammoth 🦣 is appreciative.
great vid ty
If I were you I would redo your video, It was not what I expected and could be much better.

Hello! It's interesting to know you. I have made bricks in many different ways, but your way is very good, I think and I am satisfied. Thank you. I will try to complete my project soon.
I appreciate your input and hope your project turns out fantastic
All your stuff always turns out looking really good, man. Kudos!
Very Cool!
Yep. I was right. It was great. I learned some stuff that I’m going to use now. Thank you so much!!
Haha thanks man if you can tolerate all my side stories thanks buddy
Oh man I’m about to watch this and I know it’s going to be great
Thanks for the history on this cutter. During king low tide, I have stood on the deck before but had no idea what type nor history of this vessel.
lol damn hope your tetanus shot was current Mike! Good to hear from ya thanks for watching
Nice shot! Tons of helpful tips here!
Thanks!
Hello, I just found your channel and haven't heard of the hair spray chipping technique but can't wait to find out!
Thanks so much it’s a nice inexpensive way to creat a layered paint chip technique without having to buy airbrush and chipping mediums thanks for watching
Hey great job looks very nice. But you skipped over the brick painting part. What did you do for that?
Thank for watching and I really appreciate it. I airbrushed and dry brushed it. With some pigments too. I have other videos on this if you like I can link you to them on my channel
I followed the river it crossed on a map. By the time it got to Newark, California it's barely larger than a creek. Probably only deep enough for pleasure craft. I'm guessing the 6 times it opened was for survey/sounding boats.
Yes bet you are right thanks for watching i love these old bits of steal and rust.
Where did you get that model of a '58 Chevy Pickup? It must be a diecast since it isn't made in kit form.
Found it on amazon. like 29 bucks I think its all metal too!
lol. I saw this thumbnail and I didn’t know it was you or a toy photo and I thought to myself before I hit the video, this would be an awesome toy photo. Lol then I heard your voice and I started laughing and was like dang it Mike. You fooled me. lol. Great job.
hahah thank man! you know me always trying to stay relevant haha
Very cool! I hope they at least do a cosmetic restoration on it… Great video!
Should I dilute the paints before hand? The same brand I have (mr.color) offers paint thinners. Would it make it easier to wipe off/have a better look?
This is my favorite 1:12 scale prop, great work!!!
Why didn't you guys use a walking stick across the river
Looks fantastic but you forgot one thing. The source of heat.
@@lokiwartooth1138 haha right working on handle now it’s a bit of a challenge the handle because I want to make it removable and has to fit right anyway they will be cool for sure and will later model ones that light up
This is amazing footage, thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The railroad sold off these in bunches. Some were scrapped but many went to equipment brokers. You can still buy some of these from equipment brokers who still have some of these. They banged along at the back of freight trains for decades. Some to this day are still being used for when trains have to make a long backwards move and the crew member has something safe and solid to stand on for an extended distance with the engineer behind him running blind and completely dependent on the employee watching out with a radio in his hand.
Awesome
What's the best kind of paint to use on metal?! I have an engraved silver/metal bracelet that was filled in with black and it's worn off and I really want to re-blacken it asap! Also, is there anything I can put over the black paint to make the color stay on longer? I want it to last as long as possible!
7:50 I've climbed this ladder. In high winds. It's quite the experience.
How awesome thanks for sharing
Beautiful work. Is this possible to do vertically. My walls are already built. I'm thinking it would run.
Yes you can! Just flip upside down so the floor is the ceiling while you are doing and and make less watery washes
Rely on stippling more than watery washes
@@InsightfulImagery thank you very much yes I think the stippling effect and not as wet would be the way to go because what I can't do is flip the walls upside down because when I say they're already built I mean they're already fastened to my layout
Awesome video brother! I just did my own two-part video on these retired ships...
Looks awesome 😊
Thanks a bunch
